Match it below. ## Check these first 1. Read the message under the file. It's one of the rows below. 2. If the dialog never opened and an upgrade prompt appeared instead, you're past your monthly limit. That's a different page: [What happens when you hit your limit](/teachers/billing/held-work). ## The rules | What you see | What it means | What to do | | ---------------------------------------------------------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | "Documents must be under 100 MB." | A document or image over 100 MB | Scan at a lower resolution, or split the file and upload the graded pages only | | "Video & audio must be under 250 MB." | A recording over 250 MB | Export at 720p. A few minutes of phone video at full quality passes the limit | | "A batch scan must be under 250 MB." | The whole-class PDF is too big | Rescan at a lower resolution, or split the stack into two scans | | "A batch scan must be a single PDF" | You added a second file, or a non-PDF, with **Batch Scan** on | Remove the extras, or switch to **Individual files** | | "Upload either documents or video/audio, not both" | Media and documents in one assignment | Remove one kind. They can't be graded together | | "That file type can't be graded in this assignment." | A type this assignment doesn't take | Convert it. PDF works everywhere. Check **Supported file types** beside the upload box | | "This is a video assignment — only video & audio files can be graded." | A document in a Video & Audio assignment | Upload the recording instead | | "Total size limit exceeded" | Handout materials over 300 MB in total | Drop a file, or compress the large one | | "You can add up to 10 files." | More than 10 handout materials | Combine some into one PDF | ## What to do with a file that's too big Scan smaller. A text PDF at 200 dpi is a fraction of a 600 dpi scan and reads better. Split a long stack into two batch scans. Submit only the pages that are graded. ## Still need help?
