GradingPal has four screens that matter. Everything else is a dialog on top of one of them.

## The four screens

| Screen | What it's for |
| ------------------------ | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Home dashboard** | Your classes in the rail on the left under **My Classes**. In the middle, three tabs: **To review** \[1] is work waiting on you, **Continue working** is drafts and uploads to finish, **Awaiting submissions** is out with students and moves to To review on its own. Under them, **Teach next** suggests what to reteach |
| **Class workspace** | One class, with tabs **Overview**, **Assignments**, **Submissions**, **Students**, **Standards** and **Settings** |
| **Assignment workspace** | One assignment, with tabs **Submissions**, **Assignment**, **Standards**, **Analytics** and **Settings**, and a bar at the top whose main button always matches the next step |
| **Grading workspace** | One student's work on the left, your scoring and feedback on the right, and **Approve & next** at the top |

At the top of every screen: **New assignment**, **Library**, a usage chip, and your account menu. There's no global search; the class rail and the tabs are the way around.

## Tours

Six screens have a guided tour that starts itself the first time you open them: the home dashboard, the assignment workspace, Instant setup, and the three grading screens. To replay one, add `?tour=1` to that screen's address, or select **Take a tour** from the screen's menu, or from **Learn & support** on the dashboard. That's the thing people ask for most and can't find.

## Checklists

Three checklists tick themselves off as you work. **Get started with GradingPal** floats at the bottom right of the dashboard with five steps, from adding students to seeing your class insights. **Assignment steps** floats on each assignment and follows it from collecting work to sharing. A class **Overview** has **Finish setting up this class**, with **Set up standards** and an optional **Invite a co-teacher**.

One gotcha: **Minimize** on the assignment checklist minimises it on every assignment, but **Hide checklist** and **Dismiss checklist** apply to that assignment only.

## Hotspots

Small dots that explain one control, then go quiet once you select **Got it**. There are four: the batch scan control ("Scanned a stack of work at once?"), the **Ask GradingPal** button, **Adjust pages** on the question-based grading screen, and the compare toggle when reviewing the assistant's suggestions.

## Where Support is

A vertical **Support** tab \[2] sits on the left edge of every teacher screen. It opens a chat with a person. A **Feedback** tab sits just above it. Every escalation on this site points at Support; [Get help](/teachers/account/get-help) says what to include.
