# Fix Classroom sync problems

> Something is missing or out of date. Get back in sync.

The first move for most symptoms is the same: reconnect your Google Classroom connection and choose every permission.

## Check these first

1. Is there a banner reading **Reconnect Google Classroom to keep syncing**? Select **Reconnect** and tick **Select all** on Google's screen.
2. Are you a co-teacher who never connected your own Google account? Connect it. Until you do, syncs run through the owner's connection or not at all.

## Symptoms

| A student was removed from the course but is still here                       | The class list doesn't repair itself                                             | **Remove from class** on their row                                                                                                |
| **Synced through the class owner's Google connection**                        | You're a co-teacher without your own connection                                  | It worked this time. Connect your own account                                                                                     |
| A turn-in never arrived                                                       | The push from Classroom was missed                                               | **Import from Classroom** on the Submissions tab                                                                                  |
| **Not posted to Google Classroom**                                            | Posting failed, often a dead connection                                          | Reconnect, then **Post to Google Classroom** under **Settings > Distribution**                                                    |
| A submission says **Google account disconnected**                             | The file lives in Drive and the connection died                                  | **Reconnect Google** on the row, then **Retry**. If it then says the file needs resubmitting, ask the student to turn it in again |
| **Google Classroom only lets the app that created an assignment post grades** | The assignment was made inside Classroom                                         | Feedback went by email. Create the next one in GradingPal                                                                         |
| **That Google account is already linked to a different GradingPal user**      | Wrong Google account                                                             | Sign in to GradingPal with the account you teach from                                                                             |
| **Everything's already imported**                                             | Nothing new to import                                                            | Open the existing class                                                                                                           |

## The wrong instinct

Deleting the class and importing it again. You'd lose every assignment and grade in it, and the same roster problem would come back. Sync, reconnect, or add students by hand instead.
