The picker says **Limit of 5 sets — remove one to add another**. * Standards has two layers. Choosing sets is layer one and gives you tagging, standards-aware grading and a per-standard class average. **Track standards mastery** is layer two, off by default, and turns those averages into levels. * Changing the mastery scale, bands or method recalculates every student's level. Levels you set by hand are kept unless the new scale uses different names. ## Layer one: choose standard sets Open the class, select **Standards**, then **Choose standard sets**. The rail groups them: **U.S. — National**, **U.S. — State**, **United Kingdom**, **International**. Search by name or state. Available frameworks include every US state and Washington, D.C., Common Core, NGSS, AP/College Board, WIDA, ACTFL, AQA, Edexcel, Oxford, Cambridge and RSA, WJEC, Cambridge International and the International Baccalaureate. Tick a framework, or select **Choose grade or strand** to pick one grade or strand inside it. A narrower set gives faster, more accurate suggestions when you tag. Select **Save**. The Standards tab now shows a chip per set, and the tagging control on every rubric criterion and question knows which standards to offer. That alone gives you a **Scores** view: a class average per standard from every graded piece tagged with it. No mastery language appears anywhere. ## Layer two: track mastery Select **Track mastery** on the Standards tab. In **Standards settings**, turn on **Track standards mastery** and choose: | Setting | Choices | | ------------------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | **Mastery scale** | **4-level performance scale** (Below, Approaching, Meets, Exceeds), **Standards-based 4-tier** (Beginning, Developing, Proficient, Advanced), or **Marzano 4.0 scale** | | **Roll-up method** | **Simple average**, **Decaying average**, **Most recent attempts**, **Most frequent level**, **Highest level** | | **Performance bands** | The score thresholds for each level | | **Assessment categories** | Weights such as Summative 1× and Formative 0×, or Practice through Final | | **Minimum evidence** | Graded points a student needs before a level shows. Three by default | Select **Save standards settings**. Turning mastery on part-way through a term fills in from work already graded. Nothing is regraded. [Track standards mastery](/teachers/insights/mastery) reads the result. ## How to tell it worked The **Standards** tab lists your sets as chips and, once something tagged has been graded, a row per standard. The class **Overview** checklist ticks **Set up standards**. With mastery on, the tab gains a **Mastery / Scores** toggle. ## If something goes wrong Sets are chosen but nothing tagged has been graded. Tag a rubric or a question, grade a few submissions, and come back. Five is the limit. Remove one; nothing is deleted, and adding it back restores everything. Students have results against that set's standards. Removing hides them from the tab; adding the set back restores them. A banner offers **Add to this class**.
