Limits and notes

  • Post to Google Classroom is the single go-live action. There’s no separate publish-then-sync.
  • Students need no GradingPal account. They turn in on Classroom.
  • Closing the assignment in GradingPal does not close it in Classroom.
  • A question-based assignment can’t be posted until its questions and answer keys are approved.

Choose Classroom at setup

In Instant’s Student submissions or Guided’s Student work, choose Students submit in Google Classroom. Set When students can see it to Post now, Schedule or Don’t post yet, and the Deadline.

Post

With Post now, the assignment is created in Classroom as you finish. Otherwise the bar at the top reads Not in Google Classroom yet with a Post to Google Classroom button; select it when you’re ready.
What lands in Classroom: the title, the description with a link back to GradingPal, the due date, the points, and any handout materials with the sharing mode you chose: Students can view file, Students can edit file or Make a copy for each student.

What students do

They see the assignment in Classroom and turn in there. Each turn-in arrives on the assignment’s Submissions tab on its own and starts grading. A student’s page in GradingPal, if they have one, says Turn in on Google Classroom and points them there.

When a turn-in didn’t arrive

Select Import from Classroom on the Submissions tab. It lists turned-in work that isn’t in GradingPal yet and imports what you tick. Only turned-in work can be imported. A newer attempt replaces the copy here and regrades.

Closing

Close for submissions stops GradingPal collecting and grading. The confirmation says it plainly: the assignment stays open in Google Classroom, so students can still turn in there. Anything that arrives afterwards comes in with Import from Classroom.

How to tell it worked

The pill reads Live with a Classroom mark, and Settings > Distribution shows Connected — syncing. Rows appear as students turn in.

If something goes wrong

The toast gives the reason. Reconnect Google, then select Post to Google Classroom under Settings > Distribution.
Finish setting up the questions first. A question-based assignment needs its answer keys approved.
Select Import from Classroom. If it says the assignment hasn’t been posted, post it first.
