Who can use this?

  • Who: Teachers and co-teachers

Limits and notes

  • Up to 10 standards per criterion or question. The picker says Limit of 10 standards — remove one to add another.
  • The class needs standard sets first. Without them the picker says Choose your class’s standard sets first.
  • Tagging changes nothing about how the work is graded. It adds a summary; grading works the same without tags.

Why it matters

Tagging is what turns grading into evidence. A criterion tagged with a standard sends every score on it to that standard’s row on the class Standards tab. Untagged work contributes nothing there.

Find the Standards row

On the rubric editor or the questions editor, each card ends with a row labelled Standards.

Let the AI suggest, or pick by hand

Select the wand [1], Suggest standards. Each suggestion appears as a chip with a confidence pill and a tick to accept or a cross to dismiss. Or select Add to open Tag standards, search or browse the tree, tick standards, and select Done.

Save

Save the rubric or the questions as usual. The chips stay on the card.
To tag a whole assignment rather than one criterion, the Standards this assignment targets field on the Details or Handout step and in Instant’s Standards focus section takes up to ten; suggestions for each criterion start from those.

Tagging work that’s already graded

Grades don’t change. The standard’s row on the Standards tab picks up the existing scores the next time it recalculates, so a class that was graded before you tagged still gets its evidence.

How to tell it worked

The card shows the standard chips, the assignment’s Standards tab reads Covers N standards for N students, and the class Standards tab has a row per tagged standard once work is graded.

If something goes wrong

“No confident matches found for this rubric.” Narrow the class’s sets to one grade or strand, or tag by hand.
The class has no standard sets. Select Select standard sets in the picker, or set them up on the class’s Standards tab.
It’s in a set the class hasn’t chosen. Select Change standard sets at the bottom of the picker.
