Who can use this?

  • Who: Teachers and co-teachers
  • Plans: All plans, with the All Assignment Types add-on on Lite
  • Where: The Questions and Answer keys steps of Guided setup, and the Assignment tab afterwards

Limits and notes

  • Everything the grading screen does later rests on this step. Ten minutes here saves an hour of fixing scores.
  • Objective questions, such as multiple choice, true or false and matching, are scored from the recorded answer against your key. Rubric-graded questions are judged against wording you write.
  • Changes are kept in a floating Unsaved changes pill until you Save changes.

Review the questions

Read the list against the handout

The handout sits on the left and the questions on the right; Hide handout widens the editor. The header counts the questions and total points.

Fix what's wrong

Edit the prompt and the question number as printed. Set the Points [1]. Use Move up and Move down to reorder, Delete question to drop one, and Add question or Add section to add. Add a sub-part under this question breaks one into A, B, C.

Save and continue

Select Save changes. If you edited a question that already had an answer key, the dialog says the key and rubric will be redrafted when you continue. Select Continue. If a question is missing points, the note beside the button says how many.

Review the answer keys

Wait for the draft

Answer keys are drafted for every question as you arrive; Continue reads Generating rubrics… until they’re done.

Mark the correct answers

On an objective question, tap the correct option. With partial credit on, a question with more than one right answer shows a Partial credit preview of how points split.

Check the rubric on open-ended questions

Each open-ended question has its own short rubric. Edit the levels and points, or select Generate with AI to redraft one. Point ranges on/off applies to all of them.

Save and continue

Select Save changes, then Continue. This finalises the answer keys; grading uses this version.

Editing later

After setup, the same editors live on the assignment’s Assignment tab. Questions and answer keys stay editable until grades are shared. If work has already been graded, saving offers Save & re-grade so the grades match the new key. Edit an assignment after setup covers the locks.

How to tell it worked

The header count matches the paper, every question has points, and Continue moves on without a note.

If something goes wrong

The editor highlights the question. Fill in the missing piece and try again.
You asked the assistant for changes and haven’t accepted or rejected them. Do that first.
Discard changes returns everything to how it was when the step loaded.
