Who can use this?

Limits and notes

  • Objective questions, such as multiple choice, matching and ordering, are scored from the recorded answer against your answer key. To fix a wrong score, correct the recorded answer; the score follows.
  • The AI matches each question to the pages it’s answered on. When it picks the wrong page, the score and feedback come from the wrong page too. Assign pages fixes it.
  • Approving and sharing work the same as on any grading screen: Approve & next at the top, and nothing reaches students until you share.

Read a question card

Each card shows Question N, its kind (Multiple choice, Short answer, Essay, Diagram, Problem), the prompt, the score, a pages chip such as p.3–4, and the student’s answer as recorded: Student’s response for multiple choice, Student’s selections, Student’s matches, Student’s order, or Student answer for typed work. A verdict chip reads Correct, Partially correct · 3 of 5, Incorrect or Missing. Below sit the feedback tabs Feedback, Strengths and Improvements, plus Grammar when the check is on. Three states need a second look:
  • Not answered: the student left it blank, or the AI thought so. Select Mark answered if the work is there.
  • No response provided. The card’s answer area for a question marked not answered.
  • Visual question: “Accuracy may be lower for diagrams & images. Please double-check the AI grading.”

Fix a score

On an objective question, correct the recorded answer

Select the pencil beside the answer, Edit student’s response, and set what the student actually chose. Choose a reason: AI misread the student’s answer, Answer key is wrong, Accepting an equivalent answer or Illegible or ambiguous response. Select Confirm change. The score recomputes.

On a rubric-graded question, change the level or points

Click a level or the points on the criterion card, choose Too harsh, Too generous, Missed evidence, Misread the work or Rubric judgment, and Confirm change. Change a score has the detail.

Fix the pages

Open Assign pages

Select Adjust pages in the scan toolbar, or the pages chip on a card. The Assign pages editor lists the questions on the left and the pages on the right.

Pick the right pages

Select a question, then click its pages; shift-click for a range. A question with no pages shows no pages in amber.

Done, then regrade

Select Done. If a mapping changed, GradingPal asks Re-grade this question? and explains the score still comes from the wrong page. Select Re-grade it. Only that question is regraded; your other edits stay.

How to tell it worked

Every rail row has a score, the Total score card counts “N of N answered”, and no card carries the Not answered badge unless it should.

If something goes wrong

“No answers could be matched to the rubric questions.” The wrong file was uploaded, or the scan is unreadable. Check the pages, replace the file if needed, then select Regrade.
Check the answer key on the assignment’s Assignment tab. If the key is wrong, fix it there and choose Save & re-grade.
The AI read the wrong page. Fix it with Assign pages and regrade that question.
