Who can use this?

Limits and notes

  • Nothing changes until you press Apply. It proposes, you accept or reject each change, then you apply.
  • Attachments are limited to three files of 20 MB each: PDF, image or Word.
  • It cannot watch or listen to a video or audio submission.

Ask

Select Ask GradingPal. Type what you want in your own words, or use a starter such as “Are any of the scores too generous or too harsh?”. To point it at one thing, hover a feedback section, select the pencil and choose Edit with AI; a chip names what’s attached.

Review

It replies with Review changes: one card per proposed change, such as Score: Q3 with “2 → 4 pts”, or a feedback section marked “rewritten”. On the grading screen itself, each affected field shows a violet outline with View proposed and View current so you can compare before deciding.

Accept or reject each one

Select Accept or Reject on each card, or Accept all or Reject all. Undo reverses a decision.

Apply

Select Apply N [1]. The accepted changes are saved and a toast confirms, such as Updated 2 scores. Rejected ones vanish. Any score it changed is recorded with the reason AI suggestion accepted.

What it can change

On the grading screen: rubric criterion scores and per-question rubric scores, the recorded answer when the AI misread it, overall feedback and feedback sections, comments on the work and timestamped comments, per-question feedback with strengths and improvements, and grammar findings. In the rubric and questions editors during setup: criteria and levels, question wording and points, answer keys, the order and structure of questions, point ranges and partial credit.

What it cannot do

  • It cannot set the score on a multiple-choice, true/false, multi-select, matching or ordering question directly. That score is worked out from the recorded answer against the answer key. It can correct the recorded answer, and the score follows.
  • It cannot watch or listen to a video or audio submission.
  • It never changes a score through grammar findings. Findings never affect scores.
  • If you ask it a question, such as “why did this get a 4?”, it answers. It doesn’t edit.

How to tell it worked

The panel collapses to All N changes applied, and the changed fields show Edited by you or the new text. If the Ask GradingPal button reads Review changes with an amber dot, a proposal is still waiting.

If something goes wrong

“GradingPal proposed changes — accept or reject them first.” Select Review changes and finish the review.
You changed the field after asking. Select Redo with GradingPal for a fresh proposal, or Apply anyway to replace your edit.
By design. Ask it to correct the recorded answer instead, or fix the answer key on the assignment.
